Blanche Marie Falls
The impressive Blanche Marie falls are located on more than 300 km South-West of Paramaribo. It is one of the largest waterfalls in Suriname with a huge water displacement. The impressive waterfall stretches over more than 120 meters and is located in highland, the most beautiful kind of tropical rainforest. All the characteristics of the Amazon rainforest are present, including the 8 Surinamese monkey species and more than 200 bird species. Several beautiful hiking trails lead to the Eldoradao and the Edenfall.
This 4-day tour takes you out with 4-wheel-drive jeeps through a pristine piece of rainforest to one of Surinamese's finest and largest waterfalls. There is also a visit to the indigenous village Apoera and a visit to the railway line on the program.
On the way you pass the Indigenous village Alfons and the Maroon villages Witagron and Pikin Saron. You will learn a lot from the experienced guide about the nature and culture. You will also be able to spot Wildlife.
The guide often sees things moving in the trees or hears sounds long before anyone else notices it.
At times they take you for a drive in the evening and then look for wild animals; the chance to spot an animal is much larger than during the day.
You can spend the night in a camp with hammocks along creeks or in the Dubois guesthouse.
The drive from Paramaribo to Blanche Marie is about 7 to 8 hours, but unexpected circumstances can of course have an influence. Sometimes there are fallen trees that have to be dragged on the side in order to continue driving.
A real jungle adventure!
