The Kasikasima Jungle Expedition is an excursion filled with adventure and breathtaking views. This trip takes you over breathtaking rapids to reach the mysterious Kasikasima Mountain. It’s an excursion filled with lots of wildlife, nature and excitement. After an intensive climb you will reach the top of the mountain from where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the flora and the fauna of the Amazon rainforest. The imposing, mysterious Kasikasima Mountain is located at a distance of 65 km from the village of Palumeu. This Indigenous village lies at the beginning of the Tapanahony River at a distance of approximately 270 km south of Paramaribo. You are flown there in 75 minutes. The Kasikasima Mountain lies in the basin of the Palumeu River. From Palumeu you will travel there by boat, a trip that will take two days.

Itinerary Kasikasima 5 day tour (Monday thru Friday):
Departure by airplane from Paramaribo to Palumeu. In the afternoon you will make a boat trip to Palawa Island. On the retour trip you will visit the Indigenous village of Palumeu. At night you will receive further instructions for your trip to the Kasikasima Mountain.
In the morning you depart by canoe to the Trombaka sula (rapids). Depending on the water level this part of the trip can take anywhere from 3 to 7 hours. Along the way there is a lunch stop. Passengers cross the rapids on foot while upstream the boats man awaits you with the canoe which will take you to the base camp, where you will arrive late in the afternoon. That night will be spent making preparations for the climb of the next day.
This day is spent with a hiking trip through the jungle and a climb to one of the tops of the Kasikasima Mountain. This trip takes about 7 hours, roundtrip. One hour of that time is spent at the top, from where you will enjoy the magnificent view of the Amazon rainforest.
The boats man will take you back to Palumeu with his canoe. You will be offered a picnic lunch along the way. If you wish to do so, you can row part of the way yourself in traditional manner, without the help of the outboard motor. Late in the afternoon you will reach the Palumeu Jungle Lodge where you will spend the night.

A well trained guide who speaks Dutch as well as English and oftentimes also originates from the Surinamese interior.
Accommodation at Palumeu is based upon double occupation per room (2 persons). For a surcharge you can request a room for just one person if the capacity allows it. You will however need to specify this preference at the time of booking your tour.
